Reliance General Insurance to Participate in PMFBY Policy Distribution Campaign

NEW DELHI: Reliance General Insurance Company Ltd has announced its participation in Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, a nationwide mega campaign to distribute door-to-door crop insurance policies – “Meri Policy Mere Hath” as part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Campaign – [email protected]”.

For this, special camps at the gram panchayat/village level have been set up to educate farmers, who are registered with Reliance General Insurance under PMFBY, on their existing crop insurance policies. Farmers will receive first-hand information, details of their insurance such as amount insured, types of crops insured and premium amount.

The company will also distribute physical documents of existing policies to farmers. Having these documents at hand will ensure hassle-free settlement of claims for farmers in the future. The initiative will also provide farmers with a platform to share comments, questions and complaints directly with the insurer.

Rakesh Jain, CEO of Reliance General Insurance, said, “We welcome the initiative and lend our broad support to this outstanding campaign. Agriculture provides livelihoods for almost 60% of our population. However, the risks of natural calamities, large areas pests and diseases make agriculture a highly volatile sector… The Meri Policy Mere Hath initiative gives a head start to government efforts by empowering farmers through raising awareness of crop insurance and bringing an insurance policy to farmers’ doorsteps. It will also help increase direct communication between farmers and insurance companies and increase their trust in insurance companies and PMFBY.”
